The IPG, founded in 1980, is an HEI oriented to student’s formation, research and investigation activities, services to the community and cultural, scientific and technical exchange.
The Polytechnic Institute of Guarda has four schools and UDI. In the current academic year, this institution has about 4000 students and over 200 teachers. IPG is very active in international programs and has been participating in or coordinating several KA2 projects (TEMPUS + ERASMUS+). At present IPG has many agreements, cooperation and projects in the framework of Erasmus +, Tempus, International Credit Mobility with institutions from all over Europe and other countries outside Europe. IPG is experienced in international collaboration in developing training programs for partner countries (e.g. Turkey and the Ukraine).

Politécnico da Guarda‘s mission is to qualify professionals through recognised quality training programs to generate skills for the development of knowledge, creation, transmission, and dissemination of culture and professional knowledge: all for the region and the country’s benefit.
We aim to become a reference in the process of regional development through the contribution of our graduates, their professional competence, their capacity to serve society, and their ethical attitude while contributing to competitive and sustainable solutions in a global contexto.
