Sakarya University was founded in 1992 and currently has 6 institutes, 13 faculties, 2 higher schools, 2 vocational higher schools and 36 research and application centres. In total, there are 428-degree programmes at the level of foundation, license, masters, and a doctorate in these units. In Sakarya University there are currently 1501 teaching staff, 309 administrative personnel and 51536 students (2748 of them are foreign national). Sakarya University is the first and only state university receiving the ISO-2002 Quality Certificate and “the EFQM Excellence Quality Certificate of Competency Level”.

Our mission,

•is to train individuals who produce information and technology in universal qualities, who are researcher, attender, sharer, have authentic and aesthetic values, to create a contemporary teaching culture, and to train individuals who are competent in his/her job and respectful towards social values.

•is to create producing the universal nature of knowledge, researching, participatory, collaborative and contemporary learning culture for special needs education and their participation to social life, and to train teachers who are professional efficacy and those who are respected to social and professional values.

•is to become a university which is known not only in Turkey but also throughout the world by its education, teaching and researching quality, and to be among the first preferences of the students,

Objectives:

To promote the high level knowledge and the skills supported by the most recent information, practice materials and other scientific sources about special education, pedagogy, culture and basic sciences.
To investigate and evaluate the concepts, ideas and datas about special education and pedagogic information scientifically;
diagnose, analyze and negotiate comlicated problems and subjects and develop suggestions based on scientific datas and proofs.
To promote skills about self-learning, self-confidence, critical thinking, creative thinking; can carry on the works of his area individually.
To take the responsibility of unexpected issues in special education to find effective solutions.
To consider the all features and special needs of students and parents (additional disability, health problems, socioeconomic and sociocultural etc.)
Local and international networks SU has infrastructure and facilities not only in the field of academic and technical works but also in the field of social
sciences and educational sciences.

Many of its academic staff members have been involved in various positions such as project coordinator, researcher and trainer in many national and international projects funded by the EU or TÜBİTAK. At the same time, SU is included in international teaching staff and student mobility programmes such as Erasmus and Mevlana.

Area of intervention and target groups SU is working in different areas of intervention and with different target groups. Each sector is developing specific projects with the support of professional teams that pay detailed attention to the quality of the service and activities carried out.Our activities, depending on the area of intervention, are addressed to: young people, adults, migrants, disadvantaged youth, women, educators, teachers and students, members of public institutions, unemployees.


The main topics we are addressing at the moment are:
●Health, Food, Sport and Outdoor Education
●Special Educational Needs (SEN)
●Local development and social inclusion and efficiency of educational practices
●Capacity building of third sector organizations, educational institutes and public sector
●Human rights Education and raising awareness, advocacy and anti-discrimination
